News Letter Printing Instructions

The Web Page version of the District 2-E1 Lions Letter is published using HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) format.  HTML is similar to most word processing editors but uses slightly different formatting rules to conform to the multitude of Web Browsers used to access the Internet.  The following procedures will allow the user to print the News Letter from this Web site.

The width of the document viewed on the Internet will print on standard 8 1/2 inch wide bond paper, if the printer margins are set for 1/4 inch left and right margins.  The length of a Web Page varies with the size of font used to print the document.  The font used to publish the Lions Letter is "Times New Roman 12 point".  This allows for normal viewing of the site using normal font size in the Browser.  For viewers that require a larger font for ease of viewing most Browsers have adjustable font sizes.  When a user increases the viewing font size the width of the document remains the same and the Web Page lengthens to show all the text on that page.

To shorten the length of a document page so it will print within the 11 inch length of the standard Letter size page do the following:

Microsoft Internet Explorer: Change the viewing font size by clicking on the Font size icon in the top menu bar.  Decrease the size to smaller or smallest and print the page to see if all text appears on one page.  The viewing text size is used to print the document.

Netscape Navigator: This Browser uses the preferences font size to print a Web Page.   So you can change the font size by clicking on the Edit Menu item and then selecting - Preferences - Appearance - Fonts - Times New Roman - size 10 or 11.   Preview the page by selecting File - Print Preview.

These procedures were tested on Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 and Netscape Navigator 4.08.   Different Browsers may use slightly different procedures.
